This research group concentrated its research on fundamental questions arising when considering uncertainty in the presence of both scientific and statistical models. Some of the topics of interest included assessing the performance of a collection of competing scientific models; the detection of active inputs in a scientific model; reconciling, comparing and interpreting Bayesian and other forms of uncertainty quantification; and the inclusion of a bias term in statistical and in scientific models.
